Finally found success with the Weight Watchers Turnaround program

As an adult I have struggled with weight gain consistently. I have tried every diet known to man, and finally found success with the Weight Watchers Turnaround program. This program is relatively cheap compared to others and provides many options for an individual to lose weight.

The first goal in Weight Watchers' program is to lose 10% of your current weight. As a person that had at least 80 pounds to shed when I entered the program, it was much more feasible for me to start out working on only 22 pounds. When I hit my goal within two months, I felt like I'd made a huge accomplishment. I was ready to attack the rest of those pounds.

The program Weight Watchers offers is incredibly flexible. You can chose either to focus on eating a certain number of points every day, or you can chose to stick to foods within a "core" group that are very healthy. (The second choice is more like an Atkins or South Beach diet.) I chose points, because I knew that I needed the structure and discipline of journaling the food I ate. Points are obtained by looking at the fat, fiber and calories for a given food item.

After a few weeks, the program also introduces exercise as a way to boost weight loss or earn more points for food. It separates exercises into low, moderate or high intensity. Point values are based on your weight and intensity level. Additionally, participants are urged to attend half-hour support meetings after each weekly weigh in. These meetings focus on a tactic for success, give a chance for participant recognition, and allow you to meet with your "leaders" for advice.

In the end, I shed all 80 pounds slowly and have kept them off with ease. I suggest Weight Watchers to any individual like me. If you have had a long term struggle, if you crave support, and need flexibility - Weight Watchers is a great program for you.
