When a person is overweight, the fat can build up in
the liver cells which can cause injuries in the liver. In extreme
cases, the liver becomes inflamed and severely damaged. Eventually
the liver can fail to function called liver failure. Fatty liver
disease is compared with alcoholic liver damage. Unlike alcoholic
liver damaged, a person can get fatty liver diseases whether he/she
drinks alcohol of not.
Fatty liver diseases is usually linked to diabetes.
Overweight people are much more likely to develop Type 2 Diabetes.
However not all overweight people or people with diabetes develop
fatty liver disease.
The best way to prevent developing fatty liver disease
is to control your weight and blood sugar levels. Maintaining a
healthy life style and controlled weight is the key to lower blood
sugar levels.
